FRENCH POP LYRICS
Sometime in 1967 Serge Gainsbourg stopped working with France Gall. Brigitte Bardot clearly sensed an opportunity to boost her singing career, and she nabbed his services. Gainsbourg wrote this song for her in 1967, and it was broadcast as part of a TV special on the first day of 1968.
This is one of the Gainsbourg songs that Mick Harvey adapted into English for his brilliant “Intoxicated Man” album. The song is sung by Anita Lane and the lyrics are very faithful to the original.
HARLEY DAVIDSON CHORUS: I don’t need anyone On my Harley Davidson I recognize no one On my Harley Davidson I press the starter down And it’s as if I leave the ground On my way to paradise But on a great hell hound CHORUS And if I die tonight It’s my destiny and my right I think less well of life Than of my motorbike And when I hit the road The throbbing engine starting to explode Sending the desires In my thighs to overload CHORUS I go over the ton And I sense the blood and sun I don’t care if I die On my Harley Davidson I don’t care if I die On my Harley Davidson |
