Tomte’s frontman Thees Uhlmann started out as a music journalist, and in 1999 he accompanied Tocotronic on tour, writing a tour diary called “Wir könnten Freunde werden” (“We could become friends”). So perhaps it’s not surprising that his own band had the classic ‘Hamburger Schule’ sound, with cool guitars and intelligent lyrics.
In 2003 they released the critically acclaimed album “Hinter all diesen Fenstern”, and this is one of the highlights. The band broke up around the end of the decade and these days Uhlmann has a successful solo career.
