EIN JAHR (ES GEHT VORAN) by FEHLFARBEN

GERMAN POP LYRICS

These days Fehlfarben’s debut album from 1980 is acclaimed as a classic by the German rock press. However, it wasn’t a great success at the time, and their singer Peter Hein quit the band and returned to his day job at Xerox (the band name is a reference to colour photocopies that go wrong). Maybe they were just ahead of their time, since this single belatedly became a hit in 1982. Here their brand of punk funk (which sometimes leads to comparisons with the UK band Gang of Four) is leavened with an ironic dollop of disco.
