NACHA POP were part of a new wave of rock bands which emerged in Spain at the start of the 80s. Antes De Que Salga El Sol (1980), from their debut LP, is full of intense guitar playing in the vein of Television and The Only Ones.
ANTES DE QUE SALGA EL SOL
*
Por el día
alguien con quien no vivir
por las noches
alguien con quien no dormir
la tristeza en el bolsillo y
la careta de cartón
esperando a que regreses si,
antes de que salga el sol
antes de que salga el sol
*
Esta noche
estoy sintiendo la ansiedad
de besar tu dulce cuello
sin parar
de tenerte entre mis brazos
y de verte desfallecer
esperando que regreses
antes del amanecer
antes del amanecer
*
CORO:
Escúchame y vete
el vampiro volverá por ti, vete
a un lugar donde encuentres el sol
desconfía de tu amigo Nena
no trasnoches
con tu amigo nena
el vampiro esta muy cerca de ti
*
Media noche hoy
tengo que ir a la ciudad
a encontrarme
con quien no quiera soñar
nunca llevo la sonrisa, no
no me voy a emborrachar
esperando a que regreses si,
antes de que salga el sol
antes de que salga el sol
*
REPETIR CORO
BEFORE SUNRISE

During the day
someone who I don’t live with
during the night
someone who I don’t sleep with
Sadness in my pocket
And the carboard mask
Waiting for you to return
Before sunrise
Before sunrise
*
Tonight
I’m feeling nervous
to kiss your sweet neck
without stopping
to hold you in my arms
and see you swoon
waiting for you to return
before sunrise
before sunrise
*
CHORUS:
Listen to me and go
The vampire will come back for you, go
To a place you’ll find the sun
Don’t trust your friend, baby
Don’t stay up late
with your friend, baby
The vampire is very close to you
*
At midnight today
I have to go to the city
To meet someone
who doesn’t want to dream
I never smile, no
I’m not going to get drunk
Waiting for you to return
before sunrise
before sunrise
*
REPEAT CHORUS

*
GUITAR CHORDS:
C#m - C#m/B (x2) - F#7
E - G#m (x3) - A - B
CHORUS
E - D - A (x2)
F#m - D - E

*

GRAMMAR:

Salir is usually translated as to leave, but can also mean to come out, and this song is about sunrise.

Salga is a subjunctive form of Salir, and there’s more subjunctive in this one, usually to express doubt or uncertainty:

Un lugar donde encuentres el sol – a hypothetical place, you might not find it

A encontrarme con quien no quiera soñar – you might not meet anyone.

  1. Atreo Says:

    “Nena” means “little girl”, and also, when referring to a girlfriend, is the equivalent to the English “baby”. Like in the song ‘Despiértate, nena’ (“Wake up, baby”) by Pescado Rabioso:

    I would translate it as “don’t trust your friend, baby”.
