Deluxe is the solo project of singer-songwriter Xoel López. He seems to be influenced by Brit-Pop, and he started singing in English before switching to Spanish. ‘Tendremos Que Esperar’ (‘We’ll Have To Hope’) is from his CD ‘Fin de un Viaje Infinito’ (2007).

TENDREMOS QUE ESPERAR
*
Hoy he vuelto al manantial
de las aguas prohibidas,
ya no me importa mojarme,
ya no me importa mojarme.
*
Y aún es pronto para ver
si fue un sueño pasajero,
si lo echaremos de menos,
si lo echaremos de menos.
*
ESTRIBILLO:
Tendremos que esperar
y curarnos las heridas,
que no quiero tropezar,
no quiero tropezar.
Tendremos que esperar.
*
De nada sirve el manual
de vidas infinitas,
que no quiero equivocarme,
ya no quiero equivocarme.
*
Y aún muy lejos para ver
si fue un sueño pasajero,
si lo echaremos de menos,
si lo echaremos de menos.
*
REPETIR ESTRIBILLO
*
Tendremos que esperar
las palabras más bonitas,
que no quiero tropezar,
no quiero tropezar.
*
WE’LL HAVE TO HOPE
*
Today I’ve returned to the spring
of prohibited waters,
now I don’t mind if I get wet
now I don’t mind if I get wet
*
And it’s still too soon to see
if it was a fleeting dream,
and if we’ll miss it
and if we’ll miss it
*
CHORUS:
We’ll have to hope
and heal our wounds
I don’t want to trip up
I don’t want to trip up
We’ll have to hope.
*
The manual is useless
for infinite lives,
I don’t want to make a mistake
Now I don’t want to make a mistake
*
And it’s still too soon to see
if it was a fleeting dream,
and if we’ll miss it
and if we’ll miss it
*
REPEAT CHORUS
*
We’ll have to hope
the most beautiful words
I don’t want to trip up
I don’t want to trip up
*
*
GUITAR CHORDS:
Verse: A – D – E – A – (D) – Bm – D

Chorus:

E – D – E – A – E – A – E – D

*
GRAMMAR:
Esperar can mean both to wait and to hope in Spanish. I guess this song is about hope!

Lots of talk here about what we will do in the future (relatively easy in Spanish).

Echar is regular -> Echaremos

Tener is irregular -> Tendremos
