Cuéntame (‘Tell Me’) is a single from 1969 by Formula V. It’s had a new lease of life due to its use in as the theme of the popular TV series Cuéntame Cómo Pasó (‘Tell Me How It Happened’).

CUÉNTAME
*
Cuéntame como te ha ido
En tu viajar por ese mundo de amor,
Volverás dije aquel día,
Nada tenía y te fuiste de mi.
*
Háblame de lo que has encontrado
En tu largo caminar
*
Estribillo:
Cuéntame como te ha ido
Si has conocido la felicidad
Cuéntame como te ha ido
Si has conocido la felicidad
*
Cómo estás sin un amigo
Te has convencido que yo tenía razón.
Es igual, vente conmigo aún sigue vivo
Tu amor en mi corazón
*
Puente:
Te soñaba, sin cesar
Y hacerte, ya lo ves
Y una voz, en mi ser
Repetía, en un nuevo día
Volverá, en un nuevo día
TELL ME
*
Tell me how it’s gone for you
In your trip around that world of love
I said some day you’ll return
I had nothing and you left me
*
Speak to me about what you’ve found
In your long journey
*
Chorus:
Tell me how it’s gone for you
If you’ve known happiness
Tell me how it’s gone for you
If you’ve known happiness
*
How are you without a friend
You’ve convinced yourself I was right
It’s the same, come with me
It still lives, your love in my heart
*
Bridge:
I was dreaming about you, endlessly
And do it, now you see
A voice, in me is
Repeating, on a new day
You will return, on a new day

GRAMMAR:

I’m starting to realise how much the imperative is used in pop songs!

Also, notice how the different tenses are used to talk about the past.

Past Simple: Te fuiste de mi (You left me, action in the past)

Imperfect: Nada tenía (I had nothing, description of the past)

Perfect: Has encontrado (You have found, connection to the present)
